The magnetic clamping system as a technical, performance and security reference for molds

presstec-approfondimento-gripPressTec GRIP generates a magnetic force towards the machine bed, allowing the module to be clamped magnetically to the press. The GRIP effect is independent and does not affect in any way the force that restrains the mold. In this manner, the GRIP function makes the entire system/magnet/mold a unique body, insensible to vibrations and deflections.

Thanks to the GRIP technology, the thickness of the modules is reduced to the record value of 37 mm, even with high structural rigidity. Having more daylight inside the machine let to use deep molds and limit the extra weight. Moreover, there is no need for changes to ejectors and on the injection nose, to the benefit of cycle speed and temperature of the component.

Bi-directional circuit

The heart of PressTec is a bi-directional permanent-electro magnetic circuit type. The circuit consists of double magnetic round poles, poles arranged with N/S alternating polarity. The movement of the magnetic flux is horizontal and flattened, totally concentrated in the polar area, or at the mold to be clamped: high performance and constant performance. The frame is not affected by magnetism, given the total absence of magnetic dispersion.

IPC – Reading and control of magnetic forces

The IPC system for force measurement is unique: Unlike other systems, it can be operated automatically, without human intervention and thus without the possibility of error. IPC knows exactly how much magnetic force is developed on the mold, avoiding “requesting” the dimension from the operator. This is possible because in a two-way system, all the magnetic force generated is fed into the mold, without dispersion.

A new generation touch screen provides you all the information for the operator, reports bugs, allows you to store values for certain molds and to use them for future reference. In addition, IPC complies with the EUROMAP 72.0 directives.

Monolithic technology

PressTec is created from a single block of steel; the magnetic poles are integral and an active part of the frame.
The surface in contact with the mold is completely in steel, without fittings, brass, sealing, resins. It is thus insensitive to thermal expansions and swelling: Flatness remains constant, with beneficial effects on the quality and intensity of the magnetic clamping.

The surface entirely in metal acts as mechanical shield, protecting the electric circuit and permanent magnets. The rigidity and absence of parts subject to wear makes the system operate maintenance free. This translates into great reliability: The PressTec GRIP magnet module is guaranteed for 5 years.

2 versions of PressTec are available: PTG – with a GRIP effect (37 mm thick) and PT (46 mm thick). Both versions are available in the EUROMAP, SPI, JIS standards for presses of all sizes.

Configurations are available for machines with bi-colour rotary tables, without columns, multiple injections with rotary tables, side loading, vertical presses and other customized solutions.

Thanks to its monolithic technology, 37 mm thickness and the GRIP function, it is possible to create shaped forms, to be integrated directly into the base during construction of the machine.

These modules, conveniently arranged in dedicated housings allow you to maintain structural rigidity, the dimensions and weight remain unchanged compared to a machine without mold changing systems.
